Enjoying a vacation does not mean spending too much on cheap airline tickets, hotel accommodations or car rental services. To accomplish this, you will have to plan your vacation well. When booking airplane tickets, for example, you must do sop ahead of time in order to enjoy discounted rates. For airline deals, you should make sure that you read and understood all the terms and conditions stipulated if you do not want to be inconvenienced.
  • Sleep Cheap – one of the ways that you can save on your vacation is by settling for accommodations that are simple and yet comfortable. If you think about it, booking you and your family in a five-star resort or hotel will be pointless especially if you are planning on spending your days outdoors. Do a bit of research and look for these hostel or moderately-priced lodges.
  • Eat Cheap – during vacations, families do not realize that they are spending way too much on food. In order to manage your budget well, it is best that you pick up food from the grocery. If your accommodation allows you to cook and prepare your own meals, then you will be saving much in terms of food expenses.

Where to Stay in Las Vegas: On and Off the Strip

Monday, May 12th, 2008

There’s a lot to consider about visiting Las Vegas, and a lot of it depends on what you’re visiting for. After you’ve made an effort to find cheap tickets, found some fun things to do and researched some of the sights there are to see, booking a hotel becomes your next important decision. In Las Vegas, there are really only two locations when it comes to hotels: on the strip, and off the strip.

The Strip is the main drag in town where you’ll find all of the glitz and glamour Las Vegas is associated with. The casinos, the theaters and attractions that define Las Vegas in our minds are all found here, so many think that naturally, this is where they want to stay as well. However, the strip can be somewhat overwhelming for some people, especially when you spend your entire stay underneath all those flashy lights! There are plenty of places to stay off the strip as well, and they can be just as rewarding while still providing access to all of the things the strip has to offer.

While staying on the strip puts you right in the middle of the action, most of the best rates on hotel rooms are found off the strip in the downtown area. Here you’ll find great accommodations and luxury hotels at discount rates. You may have to walk a little farther, or looking into car rental in Las Vegas, but ultimately the peace and quiet can be nice. You’re going to want to unwind and relax after a night out on the town! Plus, being on the Strip all the time can be a drain on your wallet in terms of everyday expenses as well.

Some say that staying downtown allows you to see the “real” Las Vegas, and what goes on in this great city that isn’t geared completely toward tourists. There are nice restaurants, bars and an atmosphere that caters to a crowd of 20 and 30-something urban citizens.

Basically, it all depends on what you’re looking for. If this is your first time visiting Las Vegas and you’re going for the full, legendary experience, staying on the Strip is probably for you. But if you’re going to enjoy a relaxing vacation in the nice desert climate, do a little gambling and ultimately enjoy yourself at a more leisurely pace, remember that there are plenty of other opportunities throughout the city as well!
